Projects are advertised in the newspaper usually two weeks prior to letting.
Letting
Federally funded (MFT) projects - Projects are let by IDOT in Springfield.
MFT, CA, or CB funded projects - Projects are let by PCHD in our office. Bids are typically opened by the County Engineer, but may be opened by an approved proxy in the absence of the County Engineer.
The lowest responsible bid is accepted for construction.
Post-Letting
Infrastructure Committee reviews letting and passes project, which then goes to the County Board for approval.
